Can Baby, A Product Of Rape Be Aborted? Pastor Chris Answers The Question

Dear Readers: Should I Marry This guy?

lonelywomanFrom female reader,
I’ve dated this guy for five years now.  During these periods we’ve been having series of problems. On one occasion he beats me up on the process dislocate my finger (which is still paining me) all because I met another lady in his house. He embarrassed me several occasions (calling me names and shouting) in front of my office, my house and on the road. All these happen when he had no job. His intentions had always to marry me but because of his peevish, nagging and jealous attitude I was keeping the marriage on hold. Despite all this I think he’s the only man that ever showed me true love.
Early last year God blessed him with a good job and that was the period I told him I don’t think I can continue with him again. Since he has gotten  a GOOD JOB, he should go and look for someone that will cherish him more. But he insisted that am the one he wants, that he’s a changed person.  We drag it till December 2013 when I expected him back.
Since this year I’ve not set my eyes on him, though we are staying in the same town. I don’t know where he’s leaving now because he moved from his old apartment.  Anytime I called to see him. He’ll give me an excuse but recently he called to tell me that I should please give him sometime to settle everything. That he wants us to start a new leaf, which I believed him somehow.
My fear now is whether he has truly changed from his attitude because I don’t want to end up marrying the same old him.

pregnant girlFrom a female reader,

I live with my cousin with her husband and their 3 sons. Everyday I wake up 5 am to babysit her 3rd son, and then after the 1st n 2nd son are back from school, I cook for them, do the dishes.

I’ve got nothing from them. I buy my own things include the body soap, Colgate. When we go out, Im the one Who carry their baby, some people think I’m their maid, and they never tell the people that I’m not their maid, they just ignore them and smile. I’m not mad if they ask me to babysit their kids, but I’m disappointed and tired.

Mail from a male reader,

Dear readers

I have been going out with my workmate here in Lusaka and it so happened that one day when I went to some workplace looking for some contracts (I am a part time supplier) there was this lovely girl( She is married) at the reception I felt in love with her at first sight and asked for her number.

We started communicating and eventually I won her heart and when I inquired about the parents, she told about her mother ( the one am hammering) and described her to me and even told me where she lived. Because I was really into  her I pretended (even up to now) not to know the mother and we started having sex escapades sometimes out of town.

Now what usually happens is that I have given them timetable ( none of them knows that am hammering both of them) on when to have sex and this usually increases my sex libido especially when am chewing the mother and she moaning.

Not only that i ( am married) happen to be having sex escapades with my sister in law who seems to be very much in love with me. This story sounds fake but its the truth. What should I do and you that we only live once ( so epakuinjoya).
Please not insele just advise me maybe its the spirit of high libido which is in me.

My Wife Is Pregnant For Another Man Because I am Now Paralysed

Dear Editor,

I am a male teacher. I married my wife who is a house wife in 1998 and together we have 3 kids. I have had a problem after I suffered a stroke in 2008, and got paralysed from the waist going downwards. As a result I cannot function by bedroom duties at all. I am unable to have sex with my wife- not even for a milli-second. For five (5) years now I have had no sexual relation with my wife because i am unable to function even though I want to.
Now the issue is that in 2013 last year, I discovered my wife had been cheating on me. She is currently 6-month pregnant for my friend (not a teacher). What should I do? To sue or forgive my friend who says was trying to help me to avoid my wife divorce me? Divorce or forgive my wife who says she got pregnant because I was not doing my job and that was an alternative. I still love my wife and she says she loves me too only that it is circumstances. I want we keep kids together but I am in an arkward situation as I have become a laughing stock in the the compound for things beyond my control. I am told by some people to divorce her and that it is my fault to have allowed it to happen. How true? But if I dont divorce her for how long will she stay without sex from me or other men. Or is there anything else I can do to keep her busy as a wife? ADVISE!

Dandy Krazy Performs In Perth, Australia

Years Back

Musician Wesley Chibambo aka Dandy Krazy ,often in the habit of bashing local awards for what he says are meagre incentives in comparison with what he is paid for a performance, was last week in Perth, Australia, for a show.
And if the response he got after performing at the Hellenic Club 75 Stirling Street Perth where tickets were priced at AU$60 is anything to go by, then he may be getting another invitation to perhaps get back there. The man, whose song Don’t Kubeba (corrupted to Donchi Kubeba) was a major catalyst in the last general elections, attracted a crowd of about 300. Now, that is not a small number by any means.

dandy3

Most Zambian musicians ‘Dibili Dibili’ Dandy gets Perth crazy who go to perform outside the country only attract a handful of people, mostly Zambians resident there. But Dandy Krazy was different, at least in Perth, according to the Weekend Mail source in Australia who attended the show that was organised by Shot Box Entertainment. “The show started around 18:00 hours, and he performed for over two hours.
About 300 or so people attended, people were all happy to see Dandy Krazy” Chileya Musonda told Daily Mail from her base in Australia. It is what you expect from a man boasting a string of hits such as Heavy Dimbwi, Bachelor, Mummy, Bachelor, Bedsheet, Osayenda, Insala Kapondo, Married Man, Kachepa, Ulupili, Not Guilty, Chintelelwe and Dibili Dibili of course. Meanwhile, after the disappointment of failing to win the Zambian Music Awards for Best Female Musician which went to Judy Yo,more disappointment followed Mampi last week.

After failing to make it to her show in Congo Brazzaville. “I just want to apologise to my Brazzaville fans for not making it for the show because the promoters messed us up but I will come and make up for it soon, much love all the way from Zambia,” she posted on her fan page where she boasts of over 57,000 followers.
Mampi has been on the move in the last few months, performing in a number of states in the United States of America, Australia, Uganda, Zimbabwe and such places as Malaysia and Papua New Guinea.

Zambian’s Dowry Price Tag: “Mwadula maningi. Simunga bwezeko pansi. After all, ni chikwati chabe, mugulitsa mwana?”

TORN APART by BOYD PHIRI
HOW much is a woman worth? This is a question most men ask when it comes to issues of marriage and its attendant corollary to paying the bride price.
It is a question steeped in culture and tradition. You have to be a shibukombe (male marriage counsellor) as the Bembas say or nkhoswe as the Ngonis say, to know how much a woman is worth across different tribes in Zambia.
Is she worth a chicken, goat, pig, cow, chitenge material, a pair of shoes, three-piece suit, two pots or brand new Mercedes Benz car?
In an era when marrying off a daughter is becoming a commercial venture among some parents, one cannot exactly know what to expect when time to pay the dowry comes.
The process for negotiations can take long, especially when the two camps are trying to come to a common understanding on the true value of a woman being married off.
It all starts with the bride’s family gathering to wait for the groom’s representatives to show up later in the day.
Everyone worth his or her salt in the family is invited to attend the meeting.
Those with good negotiating skills take centre stage; it could be the bride’s uncle, grandfather or elder brother.
The way the team negotiates for the bride price can have an effect on the kind of relationship they would have with their in-laws.
Before they could start discussing the issue at hand, they would organise some beer. Some believe one or two bottles of beer before the meeting make their thoughts find better focus on marriage issues.
This is an art some people involved in marriage discussions have mastered. Usually, the habits they exhibit during the course of the discussion are mirrored in the final bride price a man is told to pay.
“Sitinga kambe nkhani yaso osamwamo. Kuchosako nsoni, tinga kangiwe kuba chaja chimalo cholinga mwanawathu,” one would say, meaning, “We cannot discuss such issues while sober. We might feel shy to bargain for a better bride price befitting our daughter.”
During the planning period they would call their daughter to find out a few details about her fiancé.
“Lomba wewo alume bako osebenza nchito yotyani? A grandmother would inquire in Ngoni language about the kind of job the man coming to marry her granddaughter does.
This is crucial for most families during such discussions. Information on the financial capacity of a man provides the basis on which to bargain the bride price.
As the planning meeting moves on, one by one, the men would excuse themselves to answer the call of nature after a few bottles of beer.
This would result in the preparatory meeting among the bride’s family splitting into groups. Some women would remain in the house and the men would stand outside near a pit latrine – if it is in a shanty township – to summarize the whole issue.
“Ise wathu akalibe ku kwatiwapo,” one would emphasise, provoking others to recognize the fact that a woman who has never been married before and if she is a virgin, fetches a higher bride price, according to some customs.
While the men are having their own discussion outside, the grandmother would come out of the house – walking with a slight stoop to sniff her snuff.
“Ah-ah, mwankhala panja,” she would wonder why the men are standing outside while the rest are waiting inside the house.
The whole process can have a toll on people’s emotions. The longer they wait for the visitors to come the more anxious they become.
“Mwati aba banthu bazabwela? A bride’s brother would wonder whether his would-be in-laws would come for the meeting.
It is always a big honour for a family, especially in down-trodden areas, when a child gets married.
To parents, this means that there would be fewer mouths to feed in the household. To male siblings it means more money in the pocket for beer from a brother-in-law, if he is well off, that is.
Meanwhile, the bridegroom’s family would have gone through a similar fact-finding discussion about the woman before starting off to meet her family.
They would have asked which tribe the woman comes from and what she has been doing before their son met her.
“Osakwatila vibekete va munjila,” one would have told their son not to marry prostitutes or useless women from the streets.
Although this issue has been there from time immemorial, most families seem not used to the rudiments of marriage discussions.
Some inexperienced people would go straight to the point after putting an offering on the table as per custom to open the discussion.
“Tinaona kamusote pano,” which literally means, “We saw a chicken in this house and we want to get it.”
The chicken term is used figuratively to describe the woman the man wants to marry. This also goes to show that a chicken plays an important role in these matters.
It is always interesting to see how people go through their paces consulting one another about the price given.
“Batiyembekezeko tikambisaneko panja,” the man’s family would ask to go outside to consult one another on whether they should accept the amount of money demanded or not.
While all this is happening the bride and the groom would be in seclusion waiting for the outcome of the meeting.
The only time that their presence would be needed is when the two families would want to know if the two truly know each other and that they have decided to marry.
“Yakula maningi ndalama ya chimalo iyi,” one would complain saying that the bride price is too high for them.
“Unga kwanise zingati?” they would ask the bridegroom how much he can afford to pay as dowry.
Meanwhile, the bride’s family members in the house would be congratulating each other for deciding on the higher bride price.
“Aba bantu bachoka kuba ndalama, osabalekelela,” they would say, meaning, “These people are coming from a rich family. Let’s not be too soft with them.”
After consulting one another the man’s family would take their seats again and plead for a reduction on the price.
“Mwadula maningi. Simunga bwezeko pansi. After all, ni chikwati chabe, mugulitsa mwana?” they would say in Nyanja.
This means, “The bride price is too high. Could you reduce a bit. After all, this is just marriage, it is not as if you are selling your child.”
They would laugh about it and reach an agreement on the affordable price for the woman.
At the end of the discussion, the women who would have been seated on the floor all the while, would get up and dust the backsides of their chitenge wrappers as if saying all is well.
Often it is a relief to the bride and groom when the dowry is agreed quickly. When the two families cannot agree on the price, the man’s family would ask to come back another day after more consultations.
“Batigwileko manja mendo tiyendeleko, tizabwela futi,” the man’s family would say in figurative language asking to be allowed to go back home and come back another day for a concrete answer.
But sometimes others would go for good and abandon the marriage issue all together because of the high bride price demanded by the woman’s family.
I understand there are serial fiancees, who jump from one relationship to another depending on how matters of the bride price go during such meetings.
But, because of gender-based violence or beatings by some men, some people have done away with bride price and instead just consent and bless the marriage.
It becomes easier to withdraw their daughter if they feel she’s being victimized or unfairly treated.
Some families arrive at bride price by quoting or estimating money spent on the girl’s upkeep from birth, pre-school, primary, secondary, college or university.
However, although in some customs the value of a woman is quoted based on the value of some domestic animals they own, very often money exchanges hands.
“Muno mu town sitisunga mbuzi olo ng’ombe. Tizapeleka chabe ndalama mumalo mwa mbuzi 10 olo ng’ombe five,” They would say, meaning, “Here in towns we do not rear goats or cattle. We’ll pay you money, the equivalent of 10 goats and two cows.”
The woman would be given away to a man whether for a song or a fortune. Now you know how the value of some women ready for marriage is fixed.

1601300_652722314795647_1941818752_nFans of the famous Kopala Swag catch-phrase in the Zambian musical circles were on cloud nine after their well-loved top-rep Macky 2 swept the board of the recent Born and Bred Music Video Awards.
Reduced to a mere spectator in the last Zambian Music Awards, held from the same venue, was rather surprising to see Macky 2 triumph over the likes of soaring R&B star Slap Dee who in the other Awards emerged tops.
The Kopala Swag coiner was swarmed by his music compatriots from the Copperbelt who took the stage under siege the moment his name was called upon to receive his first Award of the night; raising security concerns.
Macky 2 could walk with his head high after amassing four awards in the categories of Best Conscious Music Video, Best Collaboration Music Video that featured K’Million, Best Zed Video and the overall accolade of the Best Video of the year.1620507_661866380547907_1627034316_n His younger brother Chef was not left out as he equally got a fair share from the awards by scooping two awards in the categories of Best Hip Hop Video and Best Radio four Song

1486801_622308434503702_1504525546_n

of the year; much to the bliss of the fan base in the audience.
For sure, it was an enthralling moment for the Kopala Swag crew who would not hide their joy and loyalty to the Kopala family as they went up together to collect the Awards.
It was as though the Born and Bred Awards countered the votes of the Zambia Music Awards (ZMA) as those who emerged victorious in the ZMA like Slap Dee were humbled without a single accolade.
It was Kopala Night! Dandy Krazzy who never got an accolade was in the front leading the Kopala family to the stage accompanying Macky 2 and his brother when their names were called to receive awards After being announced winner of the Best Video of the Year Award, the stage was once again swarmed by the uncontrollable Kopala fans and the Jerabo unit; filling up the stage-front with cheers.
Their night had finally come! Thanks to Born and Bred Awards. Others who walked away with single accolades included Gospel music genius, Pompi who scooped Best Gospel Video Award.
Maureen Lilanda got the life achievement Award, while Luciano walked away with the traditional Vidio Award. Best Tourism Video Award went to Mukuka, while the best Female upcoming Video went to Chama.
Best Upcoming Male Music Video Award went to Stevo, while the best Foreign Video went to award winning Zone Fam. Yellow man walked away with the Best Dancehall Video of Award.
Katisha was the winner of the Best Female Video Award while the much Mannas featuring Roberto walked away with Best RnB Music Video Award.
Meanwhile, B- Flo was awarded for his special efforts in fighting for women’s rights. It was a special recognition award.
Now talking of the show generally and gauged by the Zambian production standards, this year’s show was far mach better than the previous apologies of Awards though a lot of lapses were recorded.

Zambian Parents Must Help Children

$

NEWS of pupils allegedly taking part in a sex party, soon after others at Sathya-Sai School in Ndola were recently excluded and suspended, made very sad reading.
On Friday evening, police arrested about 42 pupils most of them from a private school, Naboonga Trust School, for drinking alcohol and engaging in free-for-all sex at one of the houses in Chingola’s Riverside residential area.
The birthday party alleged to have been organised by a grade 10 pupil from Kabundi High School attracted about 100 schoolboys and girls from various schools in Chingola.  The event, however, turned into a sex party after the pupils got drunk from the alcohol they were consuming and became unruly.
This led to the arrest of 26 boys and 16 girls, who were released on Saturday after admission of guilt.
We can only echo Young Women Christian Association (YWCA) Copperbelt co-ordinator Sharon Chisanga who said these children are abusing their own rights and putting their lives in danger by taking part in such events.
We are left to wonder where the owner of the property was to allow such immoral activities to occur and indeed where the parents and guardians of these children were.
Where are these children getting these ideas from? It is more the reason why parents should take a more hands-on approach in order to know the kind of activities their children indulge in. When adults cultivate a close relationship with their children, it is very easy to notice when they are up to any mischief or indeed any other form of anti-social behaviour.
A responsible parent should always know the kind of friends their children interact with, even the other parents and guardians in order to curtail peer pressure especially for those children who are not emotionally strong and are easily influenced by others.
In as much as children’s rights have to be respected, parents should be able to draw a line where these rights affect the life of a child.
For instance, there are parents who allow their children to come and go as they please: go partying at odd hours, hang out at malls or watch late movies in the name of children’s rights.
It is necessary that when children are allowed to do these things there is parental guidance or indeed chaperones to ensure that children do not get into mischief.
Children should realise from an early age that for every action there are consequences; parents can ensure this through a number of measures, for example, by taking time to  explain and reason with children and in some cases even withhold certain privileges as a form of punishment for bad behaviour.
Proverbs 13:24 states that “He who spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is careful to discipline him.” The Lord uses discipline to reveal to us any wrongdoing.
This is how parents should also reveal the truth to their children. If children do not feel the consequences of their bad behaviour, they will not understand that such behaviour requires punishment. Parents realise disciplining a child is always out of tough love; with the hope that the child will grow up into a law-abiding and responsible adult.
As Naboonga director Francesca Mulenga pointed out, the school has no control over pupils when they leave the school premises. The behaviour and conduct of pupils after school is the responsibility of parents and guardians, but unfortunately this brings the name of the school into ridicule.
“In as much as we do not condone the wrongs the pupils at our school do, we will equally not be comfortable if the school is associated to the bad behaviour of pupils during school holidays,” Mrs Mulenga said.
She said the party was not organised by the school and was not held at the school premises. The pupils who had closed opted to go partying, maybe with the permission of their parents.
We have emphasised time and again that teachers can only do so much, the bigger part of child upbringing is the responsibility of parents, guardians and other adults in their lives. These are the ones who are expected to provide a firm foundation and impart good morals to these children.
We hope that the parents and guardians will take time to explain the dangers of such behaviour to these 42 children.
When under the influence of alcohol, children are prone to abuse, contracting sexually-transmitted diseases or even physical harm, which could negatively affect the rest of their young lives.

1 2 3 4 5 The news that hit the Zambian community about the students from a named school having a sex party was very alarming and left many Zambians in shock and disbelief.
According to police, 42 pupils were arrested after being found at a sex party. Copperbelt commissioner of police Joyce Kasosa said that the alleged sex party took place in Chingola’s Riverside area and it involved 26 boys and 16 girls. Ms Kasosa described the incident as sad and urged parents to take more responsibility over their children’s lives.
Borrowing the words of the police, it is very sad to see future presidents, leaders and parents get involved in such disturbing activities. We believe the entire community in Chingola was saddened and disturbed with this situation.
After analysing the event, it was a clear indication that young people need help. The deterioration of morals among youths has demonstrated that there is need to reflect on morals in society. It is very important that society does reflect on the morals that are being taught among the youths. This would include the need to evaluate the morals that are influencing youth behaviour and their conformity to national moral frameworks. It is also important that society looks at what streams are used to wade youths’ behaviour.
Are there teachings that have not been taught in society that are crucial to youth development? Or did society pay particular attention to what children were being taught? Or who is responsible for the social development of the youths? These questions need answers.
The effect of the internet and social media need to be evaluated such that countries could begin to put up measures that would mitigate the effects of social media. For example, illicit websites need to be blocked from the territorial boundaries of the country if they are deemed to be an obstacle to social development of youths.
What we teach in class or in any organised learning environment should be evaluated as well. For instance, are we doing enough to teach young people on social issues such as sex education or how to behave in society?
Of course, youths’ mischief has not started today. David Matthews (Historyextra.com) explains that in the 1950s, increasing youth crime was largely attributed to a decline in family cohesion following the war, and to increasing consumer affluence. He added that later decades had similar beliefs about the causes of rising youth crime, leading to successive panics about mods, rockers and hippies in the 1960s, skinheads and punks in the 1970s and 1980s, and ravers and “hoodies”.
While Nathan Fisher (everydaylife.globalpost.com) says nothing happens in a vacuum, and children often assimilate the behaviour of those around them. He also states that poor role modelling or mistreatment by parents, such as abusive behaviour or neglect, can lead a child down the wrong path.
We will end by emphasising that society needs to review the morals that surround our communities. The bad behaviour exhibited by youths is a serious wake-up call for society and governments to reflect on the moral fibre of society.

I won’t  tell my name but i need your help.It is only a two person office, My Husband and his secretary.
Our home is half an hour away from his office so it is difficult for me to check on him.
Sometimes I have entered the office unannounced, and get strange looks from his secretary. I have never caught them at anything, but still there are things that puzzle me.
My husband used to invite me to have lunch with him and let his secretary fend for lunch on her own. Now he says I can come to lunch with him and his secretary. She shows up late for work almost every day, and yet he will not fire her. She’s been working there for about  A year. I am honestly getting the feeling I am no longer wanted at his office, but he denies it, and tells me I am his wife.
Am I nuts or how many men would keep a secretary that constantly showed up late unless something was going on?
My husband worked late last week to catch up before we went out of town for the weekend,
and didn’t bother to tell me his secretary would be working late as well, until 9PM. I just happened to call, and heard her voice.Yerstaday as i was going through his phone gallary i saw the photos of his secretarie in his phone.I have atached them to this the secretarie in black and red

How Musician B1 Came Out Of Poverty

downloadThe story of contemporary and most happening Zambian musicians would be incomplete without the mention of Bruce Simbwalanga, better known as B1.
A great song writer and sage, B1 has three albums to his ever towering credentials, namely Chipute, Pillow and Perfecto.
B1 has not suffered from the anasila disease since he penetrated the music circles seven years ago.
Coming from a humble background, the singer at present attributes his success to passion for music, hard work and mostly the culture of saving money.
B1 was born on June 6, 1982 in Mazabuka to Marshal Simbwalanga and Alice Njovu.
He began primary education at Mwata Basic School in Kalomo in 1988 and later moved to Kabwe before going to Chibombo, where he completed grade 12 in 2000.
While in high school, B1 developed a passion for music and stage names such as Nat B were born.
He says friends that he used to rap with gave him the name.
Sadly, before his grade 12 results were out, B1 lost his mother, whom he lived with since childhood.
After his mother’s passing, B1 decided to relocate to Lusaka.
The singer recalls that life was tough for him when he arrived in Zambia’s capital city.
He worked in one of his uncles’ hardware shop at Soweto market. Unfortunately, his uncle too, later died.
During this period, the singer had plans to pursue a diploma in IMIS, but he continued with the hardware business which he supervised together with a relative.
He began running a small store to raise money for his tuition fees at the National Institute of Public Administration.
In 2003, B1 enrolled to study IMIS at NIPA but dropped out in the second semester due to lack of funds.
“I almost clocked a year at NIPA but hey, it was hard for me, I had to pay rentals, tuition fees and all, so I discontinued.”
The Pillow singer went back to hustling at Soweto Market and managed to purchase a pool table which he began renting out to a small bar in Lusaka’s Zangalume area.
According to him, the owner of the bar eventually became bankrupt and B1 took over the aptly named The Joint.
He says that he managed to save money made from the pool table which helped him pay his rentals.
At the time, he was already involved in music and wrote several songs that never got recorded.
The singer got his break when he met with Jerry Fingaz, one of Zambia’s best music producers.
“I remember going in the studio almost every day but couldn’t get into the studio because he had a lot of people that wanted to record. So one day I found a guy in the studio and I told Jerry Fingaz that I had to record or else he was going to give me back my money because I paid him. I got upset, but he told me not to worry and that is how I managed to record Chipute.
The song became the first B1 recorded with Jerry Fingaz in 2008.
He says he changed his name to B1 soon after recording Chipute.
The letter B on the song, according to him, came from Bruce and 1 came about because he always wanted to be on top in life.
Despite working on the song, B1 says that his expectations were not high as he had almost lost hope in the music business.
“After recording Chipute, I remember going home almost crying because life was just tough. I used to walk all the way from Kamwala to Zingalume where I lived before shifting to Lilanda.”
Meanwhile, due to the lack of a licence for his bar, B1 faced challenges with the Lusaka City Council.
Oftentimes, council authorities confiscated his alcohol, such were huge drawbacks for the bar.
The pool table however survived and served as his source of income most of the time.
Little did the singer know that Chipute would one day be a hit on the local music scene.
He recalls how patrons danced to his song at The Joint.
“People used to dance to it not knowing it was my song and I would just be behind the counter selling beer. I didn’t even have a video so people could not connect the face until I went to Willie Jinx who shot a video for me and I remember my first-ever show for the Chipute song was at East Point in Chipata.
He recalls an incident of impersonation that occured in Chipata before many people knew who he was.
According to the singer, a young man swindled bar owners out of their money purporting to be B1, but that his deeds came to an abrupt end when Anthony Likai, proprietor of East Point Discoteque nightclubs in Zambia invited the real artiste to perform in Chipata.
He says Likai was tipped that the young man in Chipata was an impersonator and therefore decided to contact the original B1 to travel to Chipata and make an appearance.
When he reached Chipata, he was briefed about the boy who was impersonating him.
East Point management had planned to embarrass the impersonator and the plan was successful.
“The guy cried like a baby on stage and he was made to apologise. Then we did the same song together. It was the original and fake B1 on stage! We laughed about it,” he recalls.
From that time, the singer’s career began flourishing and he released his debut album in 2009.
The album Pillow followed before the smash hit Perfecto, two years later.
Around this period, B1′s name was becoming more pronounced, hence his concentration on business at the bar reduced.
“I was making some money from shows now because the name was becoming big except the bar was still the same, so I couldn’t push the Shake Shake wheelbarrows any more. But it was a very good experience. I learnt how to save even the little money that I made,” he adds.
He says due to frequent travelling, he employed people to run the bar, but that several times, they stole from him and that is how he gave up on that business.
B1 went ahead to buy his first Hiace minibus for business in 2011.
“I did this because in music, there is no guarantee. Today, you have a hit, and tomorrow you may not have. So I told myself that I needed something that would sustain me,” says B1, who also bought his first car – a Toyota Vista – around the same period.
Around that time, the singer had moved to a two-room house and one day as he did his laundry while following the presidential election campaign debates, he thought of doing a song in those lines and that is how the song Mr Perfecto emerged.
The song was almost banned on Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation but this only made the singer more popular.
“I have ways of communicating in my music, I don’t believe in being plain. I believe music is supposed to be an art. If I say I love you, I’m not going to say it directly just like that because it has to be exciting. Not bragging but I think Perfecto is one of the well written Zed songs so far,” he says.
“The Perfecto song made me a very busy guy. I had no free weekend, I even performed during the week, I featured on almost all radio stations for interviews. So the Perfecto album, which also has Sikiliti ku bed’, was a huge success really. I made a lot of money.”
He explains that Sikiliti addresses many issues that affect society, including infertility.
Last year, B1 performed in London for the first time during Zambia’s independence celebrations and this week, the father of three will tour parts of the US for charity concerts organised by an NGO called Touch of an Angel.
Among cities the singer will tour are Atlanta and Dallas.
Proceeds from the shows will help vulnerable people in Zambia.
He says God has been so good to him that he now has four Hiace minibuses operating within Lusaka.
And for the first time in his life, B1 is living in his own house.
“It has not been easy, but I’m now living in my own house and it feels good. I have deleted my landlord’s mobile number,” he happily shares.
He credits Likai, popularly known as Uncle Tony, for helping him find the area of land where he has built a house in Chamba Valley Meanwood.
B1 urges fellow musicians to embrace the culture of saving if they are to better their lives.
He notes that artistes make money except they over-spend, adding that most of them make a minimum of K2,000 per week.
B1 also advises Zambians to appreciate local music.
He says the culture of staging free musical shows at nightclubs is killing Zambian music as fans get used to the idea and fail to pay when time comes.
“Corporate institutions too should work with artistes, especially when it comes to adverts. I encourage them to empower more artistes through such ventures,” he adds.
The singer has since released three singles from his upcoming album and hopes to penetrate the international market.
Besides UK, the singer has performed in Mozambique, South Africa, Namibia and Malawi where he credits Orga Family for introducing him to his Malawian fans.
In the next ten years, B1 wants to be a music icon and a major businessman especially because he loves to make money and spend it.
“My success has more to do with the kind of a person I am and my background. I haven’t had it easy and I wouldn’t want to go back to where I came from. My culture of saving has really helped me. Even from the small bar in Zangalume, I used to save where I made about K300 on a good day,” he shares.
B1 says he is not married but seeing someone presently. He loves to watch movies in his free time and enjoys nshima with okra and ifisashi (pumpkin leaves mixed with groundnuts paste).
